The album is well produced, the guys really know how to play, everything is perfect, except the fact that they don`t have good enough songs. This is often a problem with progressive bands in general. Personally I enjoy this kind of music, but "Rage In Eden" never reaches the hights of bands like "Heaven`s Cry", "Spock`s Beard", "Last Tribe", "Into Eternity" etc... If You are looking for a lession in music and have just started playing, You might learn a thing or two from these guys.... a lot of cool riffs, harmonies, tempo changes and more aggressive vocals then what is normally used amongst bands like this, still it`s not enough.
Personally I believe that "Rage In Eden" just needs that "one song" that really kicks ass, to break through in the world of progressive metal.... "Anomie" does not have this one..... The closest they get may be the title track itself.... I do believe I can remember the chorus..... almost....
But I have to mention their cover version of "The Beatles" - "I am the walrus"...... Probably the best track on the album.... and a good interpretation of a mediocre "The Beatles" tune....
If You are a die hard Prog-metal fan and swallow everything that is a bit "different", then "Rage In Eden" might be something for You......
Ps: The Chorus on "Exit Wounds" is almost identical to the chorus of "Nine Inch Nails'" - "Head Like A Hole"......
