Ansur’s debut album gives you a weird dose of dark prog -metal. The blend of clean and distorted guitars, the distorted screams on vocals and the almost black metal drumming makes it hard to grasp the feel of the music…

In some parts there’s some kind of mood with samplings and synthesizers, but it doesn’t last very long. The use of distortion on the vocals throughout the songs gets very tiring.

I’m surprised about the sound quality on the record, cus it’s very bad and lacks power. The brutality of the songs would probably come across much stronger if it had been better. If so maybe I would have gotten a different experience after listening to the album. To me it gets pretty boring after a few songs…

Carved In Flesh

This is black metal! Of the boring kind!

This Ep contains four tracks that are guiding us into nothing. I couldn't find anything remotely interesting on any of these four songs.

And that might be because this demo sounds absolutely horrible. They have tried to get the "true & necro" BM feeling, but it just sounds bad

I still enjoy old recordings of bands like "Dark Throne", "Dark Funeral" & "Mayhem" (Though not so often anymore), but "Ansur" is just miles and miles away to reach that kind of "Quality"!

One thing I have to mention is that the vocals are actually pretty good. It's the only thing that stands out during the 20 minutes of the Ep. If it wasn't for the vocals the whole thing would sound rather dull & somewhat "polished".

If You like bands like "Koldbrann" you might lend your ear to this, but it's not recommended!

Best Track: "Fra Nattens Skygge"
